CLG 403 — Greek Language and Literature:

What you'll be able to do (official learning outcomes)

• demonstrate knowledge of greek vocabulary, sound structure, and syntax
• read and translate Greek texts
• discuss the history, art, and archaeology of the greco-Roman world and demonstrate an understanding of ancient cultural differences
• write critical/analytical papers using primary texts to substantiate their arguments
• explain the roots of a large portion of the english vocabulary; and
• analyse the logic of the functioning of another language has a major and positive impact on our own minds

Course contents

Syntax, prosody, stylistics, unseen translation. Detailed study of prescribed texts. Understand grammar, syntax, vocabulary, morphology and the challenges associated with reading and understanding Greek. Regular translation assignments.
