GPH 305 — Geophysical Field Methods and Instrumental Analysis

What you'll be able to do (official learning outcomes)

• describe various methods of geophysical survey
• carry out geophysical data acquisition using seismic and electrical methods; and
• demonstrate proficiency in common practical skills in seismology and electrical method of applied geophysics

Course contents

Study of the essential elements of geophysical data acquisition systems. Seismic surveys using explosives or surface sources. Signal amplification, multiplexed methods in electrical prospecting. Elements of currents and voltage measurement circuitries. Field surveys using gravimeters in electromagnetic prospecting.
