Principles of genetic analysis; plasmids (conjugative and non-conjugative plasmids). Plasmid nomenclature, and transposable genetic elements, mutagenesis and DNA repairs, bacteriophages genetics and genetics of nitrogen fixation. Mechanism and nature of mutation, induction, isolation and characterization of mutants and mutagens.
