Theory and solutions of first-order and second order linear equations. Classification, characteristics and canonical forms. Cauchy problems. Elliptic equations: Laplace’s and Poisson’s formulas, properties of harmonic functions. Hyperbolic equations; wave equations, retarded potential: transmission line equation, Riemann method.
