• At the end of the course, students should be able to
• discuss Hausa Proverbs with particular emphasis on classification, purpose, functions and history
• demonstrate mastery of, and the competence to use proverbs to convey message and to embellish speech; and

Course contents

The course seeks to familiarize students with proverb scholarship and the application of proverbs for literary and interpretative endeavours. It commences with internationally acclaimed scholarly definitions of proverb and its features, as well as from the Hausa perspective.
