What you'll be able to do (official learning outcomes)

• discuss the principles and behaviour of sound in interior spaces
• investigate acoustic condition within interior spaces
• propose design interventions for proper acoustics in interior spaces; and
• apply appropriate materials to achieve desired acoustic conditions

Course contents

Basic principles of sound transmission and behaviour within buildings. Physiological and psychological experience of sound in interior spaces. Performance metrics, and design strategies to design and modify the building fabric to enhance the acoustics.
