MUS 121 — Foundations of Musicianship I

What you'll be able to do (official learning outcomes)

• coordinate sight and sound in music notation
• sight read simple rhythmic, melodic and harmonic lines; and
• develop the ability to employ the knowledge of rudiments of music into the sound realm

Course contents

Ear Training, including notation of rhythms, scales, intervals, and chords. Sight singing and rhythmic coordination of sight and sound. Melodic, harmonic and rhythmic dictation (including African tunes). The rhythmic knowledge up to divided beats (both in simple and compound time signatures).
