• identify the psychological aspects of music and its advanced tools
• produce the desiderata for speech and music hall and studio; and
• develop a solid foundation for continued learning in the area of interest

Course contents

The Physics of musical sounds and musical instruments, sound waves, vibrations, fractional vibrations. Frequency, amplitude, phase, harmonics and harmonic series, formants, transients, consonance, dissonance. Thresholds of audibility, perception of change - pitch, volume, tone colour, psychological effects of acoustic features.
