• compose original works of different styles – both Western and African musical traditions
• develop the skills to utilise different types of musical instruments
• analyse works of traditional African musicians as well as those of masters of all periods of Western music history

Course contents

Musical creativity and composition for voices and instruments. Various styles and genres – both Western and African – emphasis on musically logical use of Western and African compositional devices. Judicious use of different styles of instrumental combination.
